Tourist Attractions in Zillertal

Krimmler Waterfalls

Just a few miles from Hotel Alpina the Krimmler Ache river plummets  in 3 steps from a beautiful high valley, around 308 m below. The protected waterfalls are among the most impressive and tallest in Europe.

WaterWonderWorld Krimml

At the entrance to the Krimmler waterfalls you'll find the "WaterWonderWorld" Krimml. The exhibition shows what water can do. It is informative, interesting and entertaining. A fascinating attraction for old and young. Be impressed by the wonderful water world and discover what is in every drop of water.

Zillertal High Alpine Road

The Zillertal High Alpine Road is one of the most beautiful alpine roads in Austria and offers visitors fascinating views. The road winds from St. Jodok am Brenner through the nature reserve to the "Hohe Kirche" (2634m), to the Schlegeis reservoir and Zillergrund.

Schlegeis Reservoir

The reservoir is the Tauern energy plant's largest reservoir with a 126.5 m³ capacity. From the lake you can enjoy numerous walks, hikes and tours of the Zillertal Alps.

"Hochzeller Käsealm" Cheese Factory

Discover how Zillertal alpine milk is made into original Zillertal mountain cheese. The cheese factory is located in an original alpine hut, over 150 years old, and also houses a small museum.

Animal Park

Right next to the cheese museum a large animal park can be found with fallow deer, red deer, roe deer, chamois, ibex, moufflon, small game and lots of other smaller animals. A visit to the animal park is especially unforgettable for children.

Zillertal Railway

A ride on the steam train on the Zillertal Railway is a wonderful experience. At a speed of just 30 km/h you can experience Zillertal from its best side! A ride from the times of your grandparents.

Gold Mine Zillertal

In the mine you can feel how the inside of the mountain lives and experience, in an impressive multi-media presentation, the 350 year culture of this almost forgotten industry. Get an impression of the working conditions of days gone by, the lifestyle and social lives.

Achensee

Achensee is Tyrol's largest lake - clear as glass and emerald green; a fiord between the Karwendel and Rofan Mountains. A walk around the Achensee lake is well worth it and if you'd like to make the tour a little bit shorter, a ship will take you to the opposite shore.
